Who we are

ACI Ghana, an affiliate of ACI – The Financial Markets Association, brings together all money market, fixed income and foreign exchange dealers in Ghana’s financial markets. The Association has grown over the years to become a major influence in the Ghanaian Banking sector. Through interactions with major stakeholders, including the Central Bank, the association has played a key role in helping to set benchmarks of the wider financial markets.

ACI Ghana is a not-for-profit, non-political and serves as voice of financial markets.

Membership across trading, broking, operations, regulatory and compliance activities in foreign exchange, money, fixed income and derivatives markets. ACI Ghana currently has a membership of about 100 professionals. ACI Ghana’s activities are organised around its key pillars of Membership, Ethical Conduct, and Education.

ACI Ghana History
ACI – The Financial Markets Association of Ghana (“ACI Ghana”), formerly known as the Dealers Club, traces its roots back to August 23, 2005. Initially, it consisted of treasury staff from various banks convening monthly to discuss financial market developments and promote professional growth. Officially inaugurated on December 8, 2013, ACI Ghana became the 54th member of ACI International. As of December 2023, the association boasts 694 certified members, with 311 actively engaged.
ACI Ghana serves as the national association of financial market professionals, playing a pivotal role in advocating best practices, facilitating knowledge sharing, and nurturing professional development across the financial markets. Representing a diverse spectrum of professionals, including bank dealers, brokers, asset managers, regulators, and other stakeholders involved in foreign exchange, money markets, fixed income, and derivatives, ACI Ghana fosters trust, integrity, and collaboration among industry participants. The organization’s core values center on Membership, Education, and Ethical Conduct. As an affiliate of ACI Financial Markets Association (ACI FMA), a prominent global trade association comprising over 6,000 members across 60 countries, ACI Ghana is committed to advancing best market practices and supporting adherence to ethical conduct principles.
Founded in 1955, ACI FMA stands as the largest international association in the wholesale financial markets, with national associations worldwide. Under the guidance of the Board of Education, ACI Ghana offers various educational programs, including the ACI FX Global Code Certificate, ACI Dealing Certificate, ACI Operations Certificate, ACI Diploma, and ACI Diploma New Version. Membership in ACI Ghana, ACI FMA, and ACI National Associations entails acceptance of the principles outlined in the FX Global Code and compliance with other relevant market-specific Codes of Conduct endorsed by ACI FMA. ACI FMA may periodically issue additional guidance and recommended Best Practice advice, which members are expected to adhere to consistently.
Mission and Objectives
ACI Ghana’s mission is to be the voice of the financial markets in Ghana, helping to drive change and set market standards, and international self-certification in the wholesale financial markets industry.
  • To improve technical skills and knowledge among dealers, and to promote the professional training and competence of new dealers;
  • To contribute to the development of the Financial Markets through education, market practices, technical advice and networking events.
  • To seek by every means to improve the reputation and dignity of the financial markets dealing profession;
  • To promote education of the financial markets dealing profession;
  • To provide a forum for presenting the views of members on any matters/issue that may affect Money, Bonds, Equity Proprietary, Foreign Exchange Market Dealings, Swaps and Derivatives.
  • To collaborate as appropriate with government and other regulatory bodies in formulating policies on relating to the financial markets in Ghana.
